Cisco starts VC investing in India

VentureWire (you’ll need a subscription) has a piece today about plans by Cisco Systems to establish a venture capital arm to invest in companies in India. Cisco, the San Jose networking giant, will focus its investments on three areas: companies that offer innovative technologies; companies with innovative business plans that can help Cisco understand how to do business in India; and companies that can help Cisco develop the demand for networking in India. The announcement was made in India by Sameet Mehta, manager of business development for Cisco.
