SearchFox shuts down

A bit of chatter tonight about the fact that RSS reader SearchFox is shutting down. Users got the word in a short email from Searchfox’s Esteban Kozak. We emailed Esteban for an explanation, but he declined to elaborate, saying a formal announcement would be coming soon. SearchFox tried to distinguish itself by personalizing your feed-reading experience. SearchFox monitored what feeds you found interesting and moved those entries to the top of your in-box. We played with SearchFox for a time when Bloglines was having so many problems. We saw the potential. But it didn’t quite click with us.

That’s really a short life. Sad to see it go. I’d miss its personalization feature.

I’ve been using SearchFox for a while and I’m really going to miss it because the personalization really worked, saving me time from browsing thru items I wouldn’t have read.

Not looking forward to going back to Bloglines…

Anyone care to offer an alternative?

I’ve been using SearchFox for a while as well and it’s VERY good at showing me the articles I’m interested in reading. This saves me hours of trawling my RSS subscriptions by cutting through the noise. SearchFox was the best tool I’ve found to battle information overload so far…

I was very dissapointed to learn they are closing up shop.

Are there any alternatives out there? Digg, etc tends to be irrelevant.
