Here is a quirky little item from today’s SF Examiner:

Scoop: New York has Gawker … Washington has Wonkette … L.A. has Defamer … These are Web sites run by Nick Denton, the William Randolph Hearst of the blog world. Each is cheeky and wildly successful. So where’s ours? It’s coming next week when Denton launches a $ilicon Valley-centered gossip-log to be called “Valleywag.” Top tale-wagger will be brainy, direct from Grove City [PA] College. … The Google-eyed Douglas is already digging up some Sand Hill Road dirt for his first posts.

No, we don’t know who “Douglas” is either. But we’ll keep an eye out on this, and let you know if he digs up any intriguing scoops. It’s about time someone stirred up this nice cozy valley of ours. But wait, isn’t everyone too busy making money, or too geeky, for there to be a consistent diet of salacious sex, drugs and rock n’ roll?

Update: An anonymous reader, below in comments, informs us it is Nick Douglas, from Blogebrity.

And more here, saying, surprise, it is a way for him to make more money.
