I wish Sphere was open to be used by anyone – it’s definately a tool I’d like to play with. I’m aware of the limitations of Blogpulse and Technorati – I’d like something that does Blog Analysis, Blog Keywords and Blog Semantic Analysis.

Their spider has a user-agent something like “python-lib-blabla 0.2″, hammered our site badly, it polled robots.txt on every 7..8th request, and we could not even properly lock it out because it had no correct botname and did not react on it’s own useragent as botname.

They should try to crouch properly before they want to walk.
