Technorati, Lion Cells raise money

It was light posting today, as we were in transit from London. Will resume regular posting shortly.

Just in case you didn’t see:

Blog search engine Technorati has raised a $7.6 million in a third round of funding from return backers DFJ and Mobius Venture Capital, according to a June regulatory filing.

Lion Cells, a secretive Menlo Park developer of lithium ion battery technologies, has raised an undisclosed round of institutional venture funding from Battery Ventures and San Francisco’s Nth Power, according to VentureWire.
It’ll go up against lithium ion battery competitors Valence, Saft and A123Systems. A123Systems raised $30 million in a third round of financing earlier this year, from Silicon Valley’s Sequoia Capital, among others. As this article suggests, these batteries are the rage now, and can be used in things like electric cars and space applications. (And by the way, Lion stands for Lithium Ion)
