eBay rejects Meebome, saying it is against policy
EBay has rejected Meebo’s new widget, Meebome.
Hani Durzy, spokesman for eBay, said the Meebome widget, which lets people place a little instant message box on their pages, isn’t welcome at eBay.
Meebo’s Seth Sternberg tested the policy this morning, by placing the new widget — released today at 5am, and which we wrote about here — at an eBay listing (still up as of this post time).
“Putting this Meebome client on an eBay listing page would be a policy violation,” Durzy told us a few minutes ago. “We are testing the inclusion of the Skype chat and/or voice communication in a small number of categories. That is the extent to which we will allow IM’ing or chat voice communication directly within a listing page at this point.”
