Venture investing in U.S. companies stays strong

Venture capitalists invested $6.356 billion into private companies during the third quarter, compared to $6.037 the same quarter last year.
The data, from a survey by Dow Jones VentureOne and Ernst & Young, shows investments this year are at their strongest levels since 2001.
The amount was down slightly from the $6.787 billion during the second quarter, however that could reflect a summer slowdown.
