See Snap Preview Anywhere at Dexly.com. We're honored to been chosen to beta test the technology. It is working very well with our AJAX structure. It's better than a lot of the thumbnail shots out there today.

Link previews: I think that girafa (www.girafa.com) were the first to offer this service, in many technology ways. So, nothing is new here...

The big story in Second Life right now is the fact that Second Life's virtual economy may be in peril. I wrote about it on my blog here - http://reality.org/2006/11/16/second-lifes-virtual-economy-in-peril/. It has tremendous implications for all virtual economies and virtual asset exchange. Is all digital content essentially a commodity as Raph Koster proclaims it is (http://www.raphkoster.com/2006/11/15/copybot/)? DRM isn't the only solution. I was speaking with Lew Tucker today (now of Radar Networks, formerly of Salesforce.com's AppExchange) about sound design principles for building a marketplace around virtual objects (which is essentially what AppExchange is.)

What I'm really curious about is how Second Life entrepreneurs and Linden Labs adjust to this. If content is indeed a commodity, it presents an incredible creative challenge for SL entrepreneurs to create truly differentiated businesses. What's going on this week in Second Life reminds me a bit of investing in China - there's a mostly benign dictator (Linden Labs, in this case) who wields enormous regulatory power over the landscape.
