photochoplogo.bmpPhotochop is a San Francisco company, founded last year, that will help you remove your personal shortcomings during this vanity-filled season of holiday photo-taking and sending.

The digital photo touch-up company is self-financed to date and does not have venture money.

photochopba.bmpHere is an image of the before-after comparisons promised by Photochop. It does things like remove blemishes and increase breast sizes, says Photochop’s Saar Gur. You get the job back within an hour, and only pay if you like it, he says. We don’t really endorse this sort of thing because loved ones should accept you for who you are. We mention it because presumably there are people who will want to try out the service anyway.

I often have pictures that would be perfect if it wasn’t for minor details like blemishes or red eye or something in the background I don’t like. I don’t know why people think this type of service is wrong. Yes loved ones will accept a picture of me with a giant zit on my forehead, but wouldn’t you rather frame something and hang it on your wall without it? Otherwise that’s all you’ll see.

The vanity industry is big and has been around for a LONG time. This is kind of like make-up for the internet.

Wow, this is going to be a huge blow to the online dating market. As if there wasn’t enough photo manipulation going on, on those sites.

Photochop is awesome! I’ve used it several times, mainly to clear back grounds. I had a doorway remove from the side of a large family photo. It was perfect!

This is like the poor man’s plastic surgery… At least you can look good on the picture, even though not in real life. What is “real”, anyway…

This is a video of something similar in action:

If you don’t want to do the photoshop work yourself, this service is extremely useful and affordable. I used it to remove strangers from a photo and had the editor make my two kids smile in the same photo. Taking great photos just got a lot easier….

For fixing digital photos, this is a cool service. There aren’t many other options out there for fixing digital photos easily.
