Sure, the Prius burns less gasoline than an SUV. Nothing revolutionary in that, however. Vinod Khosla has made a number of wild and unsupportable claims, although I support him anyway. Essentially, he understands the longer-life trajectory of new energy sources, and this is likely why he's begun to back off some of his earlier assertions about corn ethanol. Still, I don't think he truly helps himself by engaging in false dillemma arguments, or straw man stuff--like he has done with the oil companies. Khosla's hopes for biofuels will imprive however as we move out the spectrum, to higher energy-plants, and refining processes. The mother-load however await in the clean coal area.
