Vertica, grid-based data software company, raises $16.5M from Kleiner, others

Andover, Mass. database startup Vertica Systems, the latest company of Ingres architect Michael Stonebraker, has quietly raised $16.5 million in a second round of funding as it prepares to market its “grid-based data software” for use in data management and security.

The round was co-led by Kleiner Perkins and New Enterprise Associates, and included existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and Highland Capital Partners.
