Doug, Lycos Europe is different from the South Korean company Daum. In fact, it is the South Korean company that owns the U.S. rights to the name Lycos, which is why Lycos is launching in the U.S under the name Jubii.

Matt, you linked to the Lycos U.S. website owned by South Korea's Daum Communications but call it a Europe-based portal in your piece. What do you mean by that?

It's my understanding that Lycos U.S. and Lycos Europe are two, separate companies with completely different shareholders. It's true Lycos U.S. has started sublicensing the Lycos brand to various Web marketing companies in other countries, such as Lycos Canada, but I've always thought U.S. and Europe are totally separate.
