Dean, I appreciate everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so heres mine…
Have you tried izimi? I have been using it since day 1 and I am a “non techie” ( as you put it). It is a great way to share stuff with family and friends, particularly my daughter at university ( she and her student buddies think its great and are spreading the word) and my relatives abroad. I am aware that there may be problems that “non-techies” could be exposed to but credit us “non-techies” with some common sense!! I am assuming you have tried izimi but if you haven’t don’t knock it.

This is one of the lamest to bad ideas I have heard of, because:
1- No one is going to download another software just to see someone elses desktop,
2- Techie people will have many other ways to share what is on their PC,
3- Bandwidth limitation,
4- Non-techies will find expose themselves to all sort of problems.

Thanks for the blog Matt. Just on that point of leaving your PC on: Should you turn if off, nothing drastic’s going to happen. Honest! Your full profile and avatar will still be visible as will thumbnails of all your published content and their descriptions (captions) as well as their tags. So other users will still be able to search for your content and leave comments and send you messages (e.g. “hurry up and go back online because your files look cool and I want to view them!”).
