I can't imagine that $900m deal was split up evenly year over year, so I am thinking that $271m is very good. Even at a measly (by MySpace standards) 10% growth per year, that will still put them in the $900m range in 3 years. Sounds to me like they could blow away that number though.

Matt- the good artists copy, great artists steal quote was used constantly in the pirates of silicon valley movie. Jobs used it referring to the Xerox parc visit, and Gates later used it referring to their visit to Apple.

Which Wall Street analyst has been doing the numbers? How does he / she know what Google's revenue share is from Myspace?

Myspace might 'only' make $271m a year from ads, but are we to assume that Google splits ad revenue down the middle and also makes $271m from Myspace ads?

My experience (of running both Adwords and Adsense) is that Google earns a lot more than publishers when it comes to Adsense. Not that it ever discloses the percentage split...

I love these Wall Street analysts. Especially when they put out bearish statements about Google on concerns that it is doing things 'outside of its core business'. By which they mean 'Search'.

The fact is, Google's core business is not search, despite perception among consumers. It is in fact 'advertising'.

With respect to the Jobs video mention, I don't see anything wrong in there. Stealing non-patented ideas is one thing, stealing content is quite another, right?
