I'd also point to TwitterVision 3D, a more elegant twitter visualization tool. It's available at http://twittervision.com/maps/show_3d

Matt

I wanted to comment on your point that Google doesnt manipulate results. I think thats an incorrect statement given their recent prediliction to touting their own services. The day they launched Google Finance, you could go to Google and search on GOOG, the first result they "embedded" was the link to G Finance. I would like you to explain to me how G finance became the most relevant Finance service the day it launched. I think we need to look at Google a little more objectively.

Anon: Perhaps they're on the board or have invested in other companies that they feel would acquire Platial, Presto, Pinger... etc.

Meebo anyone?

Randy Komisar (KPCB) confuses me! He talks one thing and then invests in companies such as Platial, Presto, Pinger ..none with any solid business model.

Plazes is not exactly MyMaps. Thought of posting this comment from Felix Petersen of Plazes "Just for clarification:
We really don´t like to view Plazes as a map mash-up. Plazes bridges your physical presence with your digital identity. It allows you to publish your current geo-presence through different check-in channels like our new SMS service.

It is about where you are and where your friends are. Not about POIs plotted on a map.

That presence data is presented in many different ways, from the Website on a Google Map to your blog badge or as a text message to your friends."
