Pinc Solutions, a passive RFID co., raises millions in third round

Pinc Solutions, a so-called “passive” radio frequency identification (RFID) technology company, has raised an undisclosed amount for its third round of funding, according to VentureWire (sub required).

The round, totaling in the “single-digit” millions, was led by Horizon Ventures with participation from Sutter Hill Ventures, which provided the company’s undisclosed Series B round last year, according to Aleks Gollu, chief executive of Pinc Solutions. The company’s flagship product, Yard Hound, uses a combination of passive RFID tags and a hosted Web service to track the real time locations of trailers in yards of distribution centers.
