[...] The service is targeting musicians, videographers, researchers or anyone else with digital information — that people are willing to pay for. Sellers create accounts with Zipidee, upload and display their digital goods on the Zipidee home site, or in a Zipidee widget on their own site. Buyers make direct online purchases through the Zipidee system. The company offers its own DRM service, which it sees as being most useful for providers of educational materials, and other niche information. Our previous coverage here. [...]

I’m really surprised about the omission of MindTouch from this discussion. MindTouch Deki Wiki currently has the fastest growing adoption rate in the open source wiki space. The company is averaging 500 installs of its software every day, and has experienced a 1600% growth in adoption over the last three months alone. Here is evidence for some of the installations I've cited: http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/detail.php?group_id=173074&ugn=dekiwiki&type=prdownload&mode=60day&package_id=0 (you may have to refresh the page a couple times to get the stats).

MindTouch Deki Wiki has been available to the public since July 25, 2006. The latest build, called Deki Wiki Hayes, is a wiki AND platform for developing collaborative web applications. It uses a service-oriented extension model for creating composite applications by federating applications or data across any number of computers, operating systems, and programming languages. It also features a complete application programming interface (API); making it possible for developers to add wiki capabilities to their existing applications.

Deki Wiki is free open source software released under the GPL v2, with libraries under LGPL v2. Check it out here: http://wiki.opengarden.org/Deki_Wiki/Release/Hayes

thx for write up. i wanted to just add one point of clarification for your readers, which is our platform gives sellers the option to "opt in" or "opt out" of DRM mode when they sell their digi-goods. the trend in entertainment appears like it's going toward no-DRM, but educational/informational space is still requiring DRM. so our platform is flexible enough to handle both verticals.
