Ed: Not late in reference to incubators — obviously there’s plenty, but PARC is trying to do something slightly different in that area, anyway.

The “lateness” we’re referring to is the company’s reputation for developing killer products years ahead of their time but failing to commercialize their ideas. The personal computer is just one example.

If, by late, you mean others have done it before, then yes, there has been many incubators.

But I don’t think PARC is ‘late’ in the other sense (as in ‘there is no more opportunities in the incubator space’.) There will always be new companies that gets started, and there will always be ideas that are worth looking at. If anything that silicon valley has proved, is that there will always be new opportunities for innovation, even in areas that are considered ‘old’ or past its prime.
