"Sales heads should understand that people walking the hall have no idea what their company does, and have an even harder time understanding it in the context of the rest of the exhibit hall"

I don't think that this is a problem specific to adco exhibitions. I have lost track of the number of times when I have landed on a website, and if it had not been the "steer" I got from the referring blog or website , I would have had NO IDEA what that company did and whether it was of any use or relevance to me....

Maybe the internet has too many hard to explain niches , but many companies don't do a very good job of explaining themselves.

Is this Julie Ruvolo as in my Julie Ruvolo? I read this site every day - how fun.

Btw, I heard there were a ton of opt-in marketing (spam) companies there. I think they should shrink the show and start culling for quality. The reason there was no differentiation in the program is cause these guys all are about the same.

I agree with Julie. There seems to be a lot of disconnect at Adtech. The booths are mainly technology companies or affiliates networks while the conference tends to attract the agency and brand advertisers. Most of them don't troll the exhibit floor. It's just a way for the organizers to make money but doesn't help those in the industry. Is Adtech getting too big and impersonal.
