VentureBeat hiring VP of sales and business development

vp-of-sales.jpgVentureBeat is growing, and wants to hire someone to manage our business side. We’d like to ask you – our community of readers – whether any of you are interested.

We’re calling this position “VP of Sales and Business Development,” because we’re still at an early stage and looking for someone who can do both: drive advertising sales and pursue other revenue opportunities.

The position will mean engagement with the entrepreneur-startup community VentureBeat serves — providing the candidate with significant community contacts.

Compensation will be a mix of salary, equity, and commission.

Aside from ad sales, we see a number of other possibilities for business development, including events, syndication strategy and products such as VentureBeat’s job board.

Many potential advertisers and sponsors are expressing interest in supporting VentureBeat. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable meeting and developing these sponsors, which may include the following: law firms, accounting firms, debt firms and large technology companies. We’re looking for someone who can help develop high-end conferences (or a least advise in the process) and conceive other revenue projects (for example, webinars focused on how to start companies, what’s hot in clean-tech, etc).

We’re on a roll. Now we’re interested in finding a self-starter business person, someone who has their own ideas, but who will enjoy working with the team to take VentureBeat to the next level.

Please contact Matt Marshall: venturebeat at gmail dot com, and write “JOB” in the subject line.
