RK – Good point. This is probably something Declan McCullagh could better respond to, since it’s his analysis – I was just pointing to it.

Still, I’d say that Alameda County – despite including some towns that are part of the Valley – is more representative of the East Bay. I don’t think the results from Oakland or Berkeley, for example, have much to do with Silicon Valley.

On the other hand, Santa Clara stretches down to Gilroy, so maybe that argument falls apart too …

BTW Silicon valley is not just Santa Clara county, I think you forgot to account Alameda county where Obama won, So it is a tie.
