Atrua Technologies, a developer of intelligent touched-based controls for mobile phones, has received $4 million of funding.
This Campbell, CA, company specializes in input systems that allow for both fingerprint authentication and touch navigation on mobile devices. It’s technology can offer the same fingerprint-driven password protection that laptops have featured for the past couple of years.

Earlier this month, Atrua announced that Bird, China’s top producer of mobile phones, selected Atrua’s fingerprint touch control technology for use on their phones:
They do, however, face stiff competition in the fledging “touched-based controls” industry. AuthenTec, a publicly traded company out of Melbourne, already holds a significant amount of market share. They claim to have shipped more than 15 million fingerprint sensors over the past year and a half.
The funding was from several investors: Nokia Venture Partners, Ericsson Venture Partners, NeoCarta Ventures, and Shanghai Hua Hong International.
