Hmmm, I remember seeing something about Nancy in a recent CareerJournal piece. Not a lot, mind you; nothing substantial about Allen & Co. but this piece reminded me.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120250555624154691.html

But Tony is right, Allen & Co. is super well known among people who follow the media investment banking space. Its not at all suprising to see a writeup like this. In fact, the most surprising thing to me is how overdue it seems. But as things evolve, Allen is really the most natural firm to enter this space, hands down.

The Fortune piece is/was great. Read it a few months ago, since I don't subscribe to Fortune. I think another pub had referenced it. I first looked for an Allen & Co. web site back around 2002, and this company really does not want publicity.

Mixercast? You have to be kidding. They have next to zero traffic, hardly any regular users, and they never delivered a full product. Just look at their Alexa numbers. They even removed their user gallery. $8 million wasted on vaporware intended to monetize widgets.

Good article, but while perhaps not so well known here in the valley and demure in their disclosures, Allen and co. is hardly a secret and has been involved in media-related tech investment for some time. Their exclusive invite only davos-like annual retreat in sun valley is one of the hottest tickets of the year and draws the biggest names in both the media and tech industries.
