Just a quick comment on WHY Facebook may just be looking for an executive with experience in advertising, marketing, and operations...with a valuation well in the billions, someone needs to implement some revenue generating opportunities without diluting the user experience. The Company must now perform in order to not have a soft valuation in future rounds in financing (if need be).

Seems like the right fit would be a well-known VC (active or retired) who comes from the consumer services/internet space with good operating backgrond. He/she would bring deal experience, VC and private equity relationships, knowledge of building similar stage companies crossing the chasm into profitable public companies, and would have credibility with the Street, with entrepreneurs, and with attracting key hires. People like Tod Francis (Shasta), David Sze (Greylock), Jonathan Tower (Citron), Heidi Roizen (ex-Mobius), or George Zachary (Charles River Ventures) would be a place to start.
