Environmental Operating Solutions takes $2.5M tranche toward wastewater purification

Environmental Operating Solutions is a company that makes denitrification chemicals, which removes excess nitrogen. The chemicals are used on water exiting waste-water treatment plants to purify the water as it returns to the environment.

Of the many pollutants that enter water, nitrogen is one of the most pervasive. Excess nitrogen content in water can help create “dead zones” where fish and smaller organisms are asphyxiated en masse.

Treatment plants have attempted to remove nitrogen for years, typically using methanol, a type of alcohol. EOS offers an alternative, based on carbon, that it says is more effective.

The $2.5 million funding is the first tranche of a $5 million round provided by Stuart Mill Venture Partners. The first half will be used for manufacturing and distribution, while the second will go towards research and development.
