GamerDNA has raised $3 million in a first round of venture capital to bankroll an online community for video game players.
Flybridge Capital Partners led the financing for the company, previously known as GuildCafe Entertainment.
The company will use the funds to expand product development, open new offices in Cambridge’s Central Square, and launch the GamerDNA.com social networking site.
GuildCafe was focused on massively-multiplayer online games such as World of Warcraft, but now the Cambridge, Mass., company says it will expand beyond that market to other games. GuildCafe will continue as a separate site. GamerDNA.com is in closed beta but is open to previously-registered GuildCafe members.
Flybridge previously invested $600,000 in GamerDNA’s seed round. GamerDNA will compete with other gamer social networking sites such as Raptr.

Interesting that Thresh’s upstart competitor Raptr is named, the “original” gamer community, Rupture, however seems to be forgotten.

God! Not another gaming tracking social network!
Gamestrata.com, raptr.com, rupture.com do we need more failed gaming investments in this space? Seriously people get your heads checked!
