the probelm is that restaurants don't know what portion of the bookings are directed from their own sites or from opentable directly so there lies some liablility issues as opentable does not make the accounting clear...they just bill you one fee. And restaurants don't have the technology to know where the bookings came from....

what kind of company goes public on $14mil in revenue? OpenTable is the classic exmple of a great company that should have never taken a dime in VC. Everyone there would be rich by now. 8 years and $50 million to make $14. sheesh.

I've been using OpenTable since day one, and I tend to avoid restaurants that don't offer it.

My main complaint is the OpenTable.com website itself is pretty awful and they don't appear inclined to improve it because it hasn't changed for years. Logging in and finding my favorite restaurant takes 3-5 clicks more than it should. #1 Firefox won't remember passwords on their site. #2 OpenTable know where I live, but after I log in they always dump me at a page with every US region on it. #3 When I get to my local page, I have to hunt around for my favorites link.

The new reviews content has added something a bit more interesting. OpenTable could still learn something from the likes of Yelp or UrbanSpoon about building a user friendly website.

they also have a downloadable version available that i am using. Type in http://ot.getmobio.com from your phone browser one time. works pretty good and i don't have to type in the URL every time.
