Folsom, Calif.-based Marquiss Wind Power, a manufacturer of roof-top wind turbines, has scooped up Carson City, Nev.-based Cirrus Technologies, a player in the small wind sector. The holder of 7 patents, Cirrus is testing its turbine technology for a major utility.
Founded in 2006, Marquiss Wind Power currently sells 2 versions of its ducted wind turbine, Aeropoint, to business customers. The two models, AeropointT500 and AeropointT1000, generate 5 kW and 10 kW, respectively. A third version, the AeropointT1500, is slated for release during the first quarter of 2009. Its turbines can be installed on 1-3 story buildings.
The company has so far raised over $2 million from Velocity Venture Capital and a number of smaller investors.
