This is a great advancement in the field of online language learning. Whilst I maintain (from experience as a teacher and as a linguist) that it is not possible to attain fluency, or even a realistically intermediate level without spending time honing your skills in a country where the language is spoken, it is undoubtedly a massive step forward. For the scores of enthusiastic language students who have devoted hours to the trudge of 'book and tape' learning, and even those who are simply looking for a refresher in the language, progress towards more dynamic, interactive and ultimately more enjoyable methods of online language teaching are welcomed and well deserved!
