My wife and I just bought a new car and our top three decision criteria were: 1) lifestyle fit, 2) environmental friendliness, and 3) consumer electronics features – navigation, voice recognition, CE integration, etc.

Good post – people still cling to the illusion that the “mobile” market (i.e. cell phones and ilk) are the next big wave, but the market and economics around automotive are much more compelling for start-ups.
