anon, you bring up a point i should have addressed. my understanding is that facebook is looking at something interactive ("a la the myspace model") based on what sources have told me and based on what facebook's mission is -- a place for people to share things that matter to them. sharing an internet radio stream is far less interesting than sharing a playlist of your favorite songs, for example. however, you're right that they could theoretically do an internet radio service of some sort -- just much harder for me to imagine.

It is going to be very dificult for Facebook to replicate what MySpace Music has done. MySpace Music has a huge leg up b/c of the fact they are not required to pay the streamin fee since the labels are involved in the new entity.

Um... as long as the services stream music in a manner that complies with the compulsory license provided in the Copyright Act for non-interactive streaming (think radio type services), then there would be no problem with a third party provider using the facebook platform as long as the webcasting rates are paid. However, if the service is interactive (a la the MySpace model).... that is another story all together.
