I too had to go through a HP support script with my laptop. It was repaired in Houston. I could have driven to Houston in the time it took me to go through the script. I had some minor language issues but mainly poor phone connection.

OTOH We are a four computer family and on one income so we welcome budget priced products. Computers and internet access are not just luxuries anymore - they are everyday tools.

I wish HP would do something about its dismal support. I spent two hours on the phone today troubleshooting a defective printer (brand-new) with some guy in India who I'm pretty sure had never actually seen the product he was supposedly supporting. It wasn't just language/idiom issues - he was clearly following a script he didn't understand. I'm not alone - a quick perusal of product reviews on Newegg or Amazon reveals that mine is a common complaint.

Although the above systems are somewhat appealing for light office duty or kisok use, I shudder to think what'll happen when as "low-cost" systems they run into inevitable quality or support issues. Caveat emptor, I guess.
