GamesBeat 2009: Play along at home

The first panel at GamesBeat 2009, our inaugural conference about the business of video games, is underway as I write this. Even though it’s sold out, many of our readers couldn’t make it to today’s event at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, but don’t despair — we’ve created plenty of ways for you to stay abreast of all the discussion.

The core of our coverage will be the GamesBeat 2009 blog, where N. Evan Van Zelfden and I will be writing about the most interesting panels and speeches. The material that we think will be most relevant to our readers will be posted on VentureBeat, too, but if you want the most thorough and up-to-date coverage, check out the conference blog.

Or if you want to watch the conference as it happens, we’re also livestreaming video to the GamesBeat homepage. Follow and contribute commentary on Twitter with the hashtag #gamesbeat2009. You can join the audience’s back-channel discussion by joining our FriendFeed Room. (If you are not already a member of FriendFeed, you will need to become one.) And you can connect to the GamesBeat community on our Facebook event page.

Ooyala will be hosting session content and interviews with participants immediately following the conference — which you’ll be able to find, you guessed it, on the GamesBeat website.
