Bay Area restaurant tweets up a good deal
Hip San Franciscan restaurant Luna Park has turned to Twitter to help promote its business. It’s initial promotion is the tweeting of a “password” to its followers, which they can then give to their waiter to get the employee discount — 50 percent off their bill. Pretty sweet deal.
Luna Park’s fare, according to its website, is “mostly French and Italian with a few American and Asian accents,” and it also offers cocktail service. It is open for Lunch and Dinner seven days a week. In addition to discounted food, the restaurant will also run contests for other prizes.
Using Twitter to connect with customers is certainly nothing new: Many companies see the value in the person-to-person outreach the service can provide. Other restaurants such as Starbucks use it to answer customer questions and deal with complaints. Outside of the food service industry, companies like Comcast see it as an extension of their technical support help desk.
It does appear however from a recent tweet (below) that Luna Park staff are still trying to figure out the ins and outs of Twitter. Let’s hope they get things straight soon: Who can turn down good cheap food?
