Bing lists my job from 2001

I want to like Bing, Microsoft’s new search engine. It’s pretty! The video results that play when you mouse over them are cool. And Microsoft people are smarter and nicer than anyone in Silicon Valley wants to admit, so I like for them to win once in a while. Too bad Bing, now live after several days of post-launch downtime, returned my first search with a tidy line of info on me that’s eight years out of date. My guess is that Bing searches an old copy of the Open Directory Project’s dmoz database. There’s no way for me to correct Bing’s entry or flag it as incorrect. Can’t I tweet at it or something?

  • I noticed the same thing about my results yesterday. It's a bit eerie seeing that old data dredged up -- and not particularly useful. Bizarre.
