It says a great deal that he was able to raise a fund at a time when the VC asset class is under significant scrutiny by institutional investors. I do worry a bit that without a large number of investing partners he will either fall into the trap of having to invest in companies that need lots of money (the current VC trap) or have a portfolio of 80+ companies to monitor and provide value to. My guess is that he will try to do the second, not the first and he is gong to be one very busy and popular person in SV.
