First of all the rumours have been in circulation for some time, even before the valuation and write down in May. Everyone knows that T-mobile is struggling, as is Orange, and every operator in the UK has been desperate to cut down the number of players. Second of all, you miss one of the big points about the consolidation of the UK market–the operator who acquires T-Mob will literally pay the way for everyone else to profit, without necessarily profiting itself.

O2 seems to be the one tipped this morning, although every hour seems to bring a new suitor… What I'm wondering is which operator would be the best fit?
