Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem touts new Riddim Ribbon game

decrem1Tapulous is one of the primary beneficiaries of Apple’s AppStore. Its various Tap Tap Revenge games have been downloaded more than 10 million times. Past stats have shown that more than one in three iPhone/iPod Touch owners have used the app. As such, the company dominates the music rhythm game market on the iPhone, striking deals with music companies even as giant game companies loom on the sidelines with franchises such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Bart Decrem, chief executive of Tapulous, went up on stage at Apple’s event in San Francisco this morning to tout a new music game, Riddim Ribbon. We talked with him about it and the benefits of Apple’s new Genius feature, which can automatically group similar apps together and recommend new apps to users, based on their tastes.

  • Someone already beat Tapulous to the punch... Riddim Ribbon looks almost exactly like a game that's already available on the App Store, called IMP: Surf the Music. You tilt the phone to move around, generate music as you go and create unique mixes every time you play depending on which paths you choose!
