Landing a Spaceship On a Planet in Real-Time

I didn't know much about Infinity — an upcoming sci-fi massively multiplayer role-playing game — until I saw this video showing off the title's "seamless planetary engine." It allows an in-game ship to land on a planet from space (and take off later for the great beyond) in real-time — something that I don't believe has ever been done before in a polygonal game.

How cool is that? I've wanted to do this in a sci-fi game for a long, long time.
