This is all a bit self serving and simplisitic. VC's rarely start with "all the power". What tends to happen is that companies need more cash than anticipated, market gets tough or business model needs to be thrown out and reinvented, and before you know it, you have raised $30M and now your investors own 70% of your business, at which point you look like a public company and not an early venture project anymore... Hell is paved with good intentions.I think having a serious lead can be a very good thing, someone who can champion you and feels responsible for your success and will stand by you when you stumble (as almost always happens). Long-term commitments need work and consistency, and I think that's true from investors too.
