Panasonic to debut mobile game handheld called the Jungle

Welcome to the Jungle. Panasonic is preparing to launch a handheld gaming unit by that name, according to the gadget blog CrunchGear.

About 15 years after Panasonic’s last foray into gaming ended in disaster — with the 3DO game console — Panasonic is trying again. The Japanese company is launching an online gaming division called Panasonic Cloud Entertainment. Panasonic hasn’t yet acknowledged the report, but CrunchGear says TheJungle.com web site should be live soon with the video below.

The Jungle is the name of both the device, which is designed almost like a laptop with a clamshell display, and the brand. The top half has a display and the bottom half has a touchpad, keyboard, and possibly dual touch-sensitive D-pads (directional controls).

The device will focus on content in the cloud, including games such as Battlestar Galactica Online, made by Bigpoint. The device has a 3.5 millimeter jack, a micro-universal serial bus (USB) port, a mini-high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) port and other things.
