Deals & More: Heartland Robotics gets $20M to build robots, RingRevenue brings in $4M for phone-based marketing
Today’s funding announcements include new performance marketing models and flash sales exploring new niches:
Heartland Robotics gets $20M for hardworking robots: The company has raised a second round of funding for low-cost robots to be used in manufacturing. Founder Rodney Brooks, an MIT robotics expert, also co-founded iRobot, maker of autonomous cleaning robots. Brooks said Heartland’s new robots will be “easy to buy, train, and deploy.”
RingRevenue brings in $4M to track phone calls: The company has raised a new funding round for its pay-per-call marketing service. RingRevenue, which counts more than 25,000 publishers in its networks, allows clients to enhance print and digital marketing with phone-based campaigns. The funding will help the company expand beyond the U.S.
Totsy lands $5M for toy sales: The flash sales site specializing in goods for moms and kids has raised a first round of funding from DFJ Gotham and Rho Ventures. Sales on Totsy, which recently acquired the member base of competitor bTrendie, last for 72 hours.
PowerCloud Systems spins out from PARC: The developer of a networking cloud operating system for small and medium-sized businesses has raised an undisclosed amount of funding after splitting off from the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), peHUB reports. PowerCloud began while founder Jeff Abramowitz was an entrepreneur-in-residence at PARC in 2008.
Pacific Catch reels in $4M for fresh fish: The restaurant group featured in one of the first iPhone commercials has raised funding from Pacific Community Ventures. A fourth location is in the works for the Bay Area chain.
