For many businesses, Groupon is now their “last chance” marketing plan, allowing them to pay the rent and keep the lights on for a few more months. The only benefit they have is their massive email list, which seems to be looking more and more like SPAM on a daily basis.

As someone who is currently deeply involved in the Korean startup scene, I just have one comment about mobile payments. The thing is, the greatest barrier to new innovation over here in the mobile payments field is the government and the way the law works. The financial system has some fundamentally different clauses and rules that make it extremely difficult for new systems to be created.The tech knowhow is here, the manpower is here, the ideas are here… but the government is stuck back a few years.

Really I don't understand the Buzz about Groupon. it seems like a highly flawed plan. All it takes for them to be irrelevant is for a major social player (Facebook/Twitter) to roll over in the night to crush them flat. OMG a Viral Coupon company, Right now the Snail Spam Val-Pak gets more use in households. Google adding a localized and targeted AdWords/AdMob linking to coupons or embedded in G-Maps and its game over.

I would like to here from small business owners who have used Groupon and sites like theirs to see if this is actually good for them. I working with and studying the results from the business perspective and have not found good equitable experiences or that the customers return. If this is true, what will they have to do to get business to try it again?

Bernard,I see negative attacks on Sarah from hateful, liberal, jealous people of her all over the Internet. Seeing your article struck a cord with me and I had to respond.Congratulations on your babies. We have our first, he's 10 months old. Funny how our focus and priorities have changed. What's more interesting is how few baby websites/social networks have sound advice. We're always looking for advice and can't find it. Almost makes me want to make an app for it and only have doctors and nurses and other child professionals commenting so it's solid advice. Did you find any good sites?

Enough is enough.She's the woman very few could ever be. Very successful in life, most importantly – family, and work. The family part is what 99.9% of women who hate her are not capable of. You can't have everything in life but she's pretty close to it.You all bash her that she's stupid – compared to who. Like the post. Agree on Kinect. All I have to do is watch my kids and I know this is a huge product. Was excited when it was just a concept, but the reality is even better. Listen to Balmer speak and all he wants to discuss is XBOX. Considering there are 25M XBOX live users and well over a million are on at any one time, this is the huge virtual world of commerce. On Groupon, business model is in trouble, cant scale the business and it depresses margins to do so. Unless they make a pivot on 2011 or 2012, they will be marginalized.
