Fan acts his heart out at Uncharted developer’s motion-capture studio

Jeremy “Spyder” Gallant won a contest held by publisher Sony Computer Entertainment America to become a character in the newest downloadable content update for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, last year’s hit action-adventure game from developer Naughty Dog.

We already got a look at the auditioning process, but now we get an extended peek inside Naughty Dog’s motion-capture studio, a state-of-the-art facility where cameras record actors covered in reflective balls that help computers capture movement data. The developer later uses this info to recreate the performances in the game.

Gallant documented and edited the video, which features an appearance from Nolan North, the actor behind the series’ protagonist Nathan Drake. The film offers fans great insight into how a studio with a reputation for great acting captures its performances.
