Publisher 2K Sports really thinks it has something special with the latest entry in the long-running NBA 2K franchise. NBA 2K13 has spread beyond consoles to mobile and Facebook as well, so we got producer Robert Nelson to share some b-ballin’ tips for the touchscreen iOS and Android versions.

1. Big men generally don’t want to take the ball up the court after a defensive rebound, so look for them to quickly try to pass the ball to a PG or SG. When they do, jump into the passing lane and get the steal.

2. With Classic Controls, don’t overuse the alley-oop button, or you’ll end up with a lot of turnovers. Your opponents’ big men will knock down alley-oops if they are camping out around the hoop. Try to draw your opponent out of the key by passing around the outside and threatening with three-point shots. When they clear the key to defend you, look for a cutting player and hit the alley-oop.

3. While using One Finger controls, make sure and utilize the Playbook button as often as possible. If you’re continually getting scored on in the low post, use the Deny Ball option in the Playbook to keep the ball from getting into the low post.

4. While playing with the One Finger controls, use the multiple plays from the Playbook in conjunction. A great way to score is to give the ball to your quickest player, choose the Isolation play from the Playbook, and -- once your teammates have cleared out -- select the Drive play to attack the basket.

5. Use Practice mode to perfect the timing on your jump shot. Releasing your finger (which releases the ball) right as the player reaches the top of their jump can have a significant impact on whether or not your shot goes in. Work on your timing in Practice mode when you aren’t distracted by everything going on during a game.
