In preparation of Crysis 3’s February release, developer Crytek has put together a seven episode web-series highlighting the game world and engine (Cry Engine 3).  The aptly titled series, “The 7 Wonders of Crysis” kicks off with episode one, “Hell of a City.” Episode 1 shows series regular Prophet returning to New York City which is now part of the CELL Corporation’s Nanodome.  The nano-tech takeover has turned New York into a literal urban jungle complete with swamps, forests and rivers.

The Crytek team isn’t the only high profile talent at work here.  The web series is being produced by Albert Hughes (of Book of Eli, From Hell, and Menace II Society fame).  “When EA and Crytek approached me about being involved in creating ‘The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3’ video series, I liked the idea of creating emotional stories using only computer generated images,” stated Hughes. “The challenge of producing something intensely human without ever seeing a human on screen was incredibly compelling, and this was a chance for me to do that using a completely unique medium.”

If Episode 1 is any indicator, it’s safe to expect some amazing story telling leading up the Crysis 3’s February 19th release.
