Gotham’s Dark Knight returns to video games this year in a new Arkham game.
In a conference call to investors, Time Warner chief financial officer John K. Martin spent a few moments talking about the company’s home-entertainment division. That’s when the executive confirmed a new game in the Batman series.
“[We] have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise,” said Martin. “So all in all, we expect Warner to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.”
Time Warner released developer Rocksteady Studio’s Batman: Arkham City in 2011. It was one of the year’s best-reviewed games, and the publisher shipped more than six million copies to retail. It’s not surprising that it’s working on another one.
Rumors once pointed to a Silver Age Batman Arkham game, which is the era of DC Comics that takes place starting in the mid-1950s and ending in the early 1980s. That is still unconfirmed.
