Jason West has retired from Respawn Entertainment according to this post on Respawn’s website by Vince Zampella. The pair co-founded the studio after their highly publicized departure from publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward in 2010. They co-founded Infinity Ward with Grant Collier in 2002 and rose to prominence when they blessed us with Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Infinity Ward co-developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Sledgehammer Games, but this was after West and Zampella were out of the picture.

Vince Zampella: “Jason has left Respawn to take care of some family issues. We have worked together on some amazing accomplishments over the years, starting with an early Segasoft project that never shipped. It is sad to see things come to an end, but there are times when change is best for growth, both personally and professionally. I wish Jason the best and send my best wishes to his family. Respawn continues to amaze me, the team here is resilient and talented. E3 will be therapeutic for us, as we finally get to start showing our work again. I know the team was excited about the response we got from just admitting we were going to attend.”

According to this article from Eurogamer, Jason West hasn’t worked at Respawn Entertainment since May 2012, essentially leaving the studio shortly after their lawsuit with Activision was settled out of court.
