Cryptic holding second Neverwinter beta weekend starting Friday

Time to don your wizard hat and robe, because publisher Perfect World Entertainment is turning on the Neverwinter servers for a weekend beta test.

Developer Cryptic Studios will open its Dungeons & Dragons PC online role-playing game tomorrow until Sunday. This is the second beta weekend, and it features a higher level cap, new features, and more classes than the first time around. It’s set in the 4th Edition of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.

“Neverwinter continues to impress players and publications worldwide,” Cryptic Studios chief operating officer Craig Zinkievich said in a statement. “The tremendously valuable feedback from peers and fans has allow us to make Neverwinter a truly triple-A experience that is also free-to-play. We thank everyone for their continuous support and welcome new players into this, our second Beta Weekend.”

The developer guarantees access to this test to anyone who purchases one of the Founder Packs on Perfect World’s Neverwinter website.

This trial period is the first time players will get the chance to play the Wizard character class. New zones are also available, and players can grind their PC up to level 40.

Neverwinter is due out in the first half of 2013.
