Apple’s iMessage service crashed today, affecting “some users,” Apple said … including me. And in spite of Apple’s reassurances, the service is still not reliably back up for all. Apple’s system status page reports a short 45-minute outage between approximately 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Pacific, but I had issues around 2 p.m. as well while — obviously — getting some servicing done on my wife’s vehicle and using the service station’s complimentary Wi-Fi. Apple’s current system status, however, says all is fine now. And indeed, iMessage is back up for me now, but apparently not for all: I have corroborated with several others and can independently confirm at this time that Apple’s iMessage outage is effecting me. — Michael Steeber (@MichaelSteeber) July 9, 2013 That tweet was just 43 minutes ago, which means that the outage was for much longer than the 45 minutes Apple reported, at least for some. The usually reliable service has had multiple outages in the past, most recently in April when an odd bug deleted the last words of certain messages.
